Picking a Pediatric Dentist

Posted .

Do you know what makes your dentist best suited to his or her job? While all dentists receive similar initial training, a pediatric dentist spends extra time learning about caring for the dental needs of infants, children and teenagers. At Colmar Dentistry for Kids we understand that pediatric dentistry requires a different approach than adult care, and our staff is trained to meet the needs of your child, and office is designed to be welcoming and stress-free for our young visitors.

When should you schedule your child’s first dental visit? The ADA recommends that the first visit come within six months of the first tooth and before the first birthday. Your initial visit with our pediatric dentist will consist of an evaluation and a consultation. The dentist will perform an examination of your baby’s teeth for proper placement and oral health, and make sure there are no issues with the development of the gums or jaw and answer any questions that you may have. This is also gives you the opportunity to introduce your child to our office, so that they will become comfortable with visits to the dentist.

If it is time for your child’s first visit to the dentist, Dr. Kathryn Leahey will be happy to see you! Please contact Colmar Dentistry for Kids at 267-209-6930 to make an appointment at our office in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania.
